About Kurt Kastorf
Prior to joining WilmerHale, Mr. Kastorf was an appellate attorney for the United States Department of Justice, where he worked on more than 120 appeals, including cases before every circuit of the United States Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Kastorf served as lead counsel on several dozen matters, winning every appeal that went to judgment. He developed particular expertise in challenges to federal agency action, complex enforcement actions, environmental and natural resources law, and Indian law. Before joining the DOJ, Mr. Kastorf was an attorney at an international law firm, representing corporate clients in complex commercial litigation and internal investigations. While in law school, Mr. Kastorf worked as an extern for both Julie E. Carnes of the Northern District of Georgia and Justice Carol W. Hunstein of the Supreme Court of Georgia. After law school, Kurt clerked for the Hon. Ed. E. Carnes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Kastorf’s recent pro bono work includes representing clients before the United States Supreme Court in cases involving the Clean Water Act and the Clean Air Act.
