Aside from presenting seminars statewide focusing on the importance of estate planning and preparing living trusts, Mona’s practice involves assisting individuals in their immigration matters, as well as working with individuals and companies requiring contract assistance in business and corporate affairs. Three seemingly divergent areas – immigration, contracts and estate planning – yet a brief introduction to the source of Mona’s drive reveals their connection. Her immigration work centers on assisting individuals and companies to spread their respective talents and expertise – in science, the arts, athletics, business, education or otherwise – so that all segments of society may benefit from them and advance, thereby allowing clients to have the ability to cause further waves throughout the globe with their skills. This area of her work has stemmed from her international and human rights activities, which are founded in her interest in resolving issues of inequality that hinder societies from advancing. At the same time, Mona’s transactional work retains those same clients and attracts others, from entertainment professionals to corporate businesses, interested in using their skills and services to better the societies around them. As careers blossom and culminate into assets, Mona’s advocacy for her clients extends to protection of their assets, preparing living trusts for individuals and for couples long married or newly wed. Mona’s work in immigration, contracts and estate planning, then, have groundings in her passion to encourage individuals to achieve their highest potential – for the benefit of society’s hearts, minds, and unmitigated advancement. It is this fiery drive that makes her a sought-after advocate for those looking to take their work to the top. Previous work With a passion for justice, Mona has participated alongside the delegation of the Bahá’í International Community in the 16th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland – an inter-governmental body within the UN system responsible for the strengthening the protection of human rights around the globe. She also previously completed an assignment with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) in Washington, D.C. where she researched human rights and religious freedom issues in various countries, particularly in the Middle East and Africa. Her primary role at USCIRF was to assist in preparing the Commission’s annual religious freedom and human rights report which serves as a major basis for policy-making by the U.S. President and Congress. She also attended and reported on relevant public events and hearings on the Hill, and was with USCIRF when the most recent attacks against the Bahá’ís in Iran commenced. Mona’s previous legal experience includes serving as In-house Legal Counsel for the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) – a major employee union with a membership of over 7,000 law enforcement personnel from various California state departments (including the Department of Justice, Housing & Community Development, Parks and Recreation, and Public Health) – where she championed the rights of state employees to achieve better working conditions, better working hours, and fair treatment, and educated Union members regarding pending legislation that could impact employment conditions. Mona’s legal experience also involves trial preparation at a full-service business law firm with a primary clientele of Fortune 500 automotive manufacturers, film production matters in the Production and Development and Business & Legal Affairs Departments of Miramax Films, and responsibility for the negotiation and drafting of service agreements and the monitoring of publicly disseminated information for compliance with FDA regulations for an international pharmaceutical company.
