Meet with clients who have potential employment claims for Utah's only boutique law firm that represents employees in labor and employment cases. Conducted extensive legal research into employment law issues, including Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, employment benefits including disability policies, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, 42 U.S.C. s. 1981 and 1983 and various state law issues, including unemployment benefits, wrongful termination, and due process for governmental employees. Research into various evidentiary and damages related issues. Extensive electronic document review in a 19 plaintiff wrongful termination lawsuit. Drafted motions and briefs concerning discovery and other litigation disputes. Worked with clients to draft demand letters, discovery requests, and various pleadings. Interviewed clients and witnesses to investigate and analyze the viability of potential claims and to determine witnesses for disclosure in litigation and in the administrative investigative process. Negotiated with opposing counsel concerning settlement and various litigation disputes. Represented the law firm in collections cases.

Substantial pro bono service for clients at Guadalupe Street Law Clinic and Family Law Clinic. Represented consumers sued in a collection action and resolved the dispute in mediation. Represented tenants in a housing case, including briefing, arguing, and defeating the landlord’s motion for summary judgment. Completed administrative tasks, including recording student volunteer hours, tracking certificate completion status, and compiling statistical data as Pro Bono Initiative Intern.
