H. SCOTT LEVIANT is the founder, primary author and Editor-in-Chief of The Complex Litigator. Mr. Leviant is a civil litigation attorney with over 11 years of experience (10 as an attorney) handling complex and class action matters. Beginning September 8, 2009, Mr. Leviant will be employed at Spiro Moss LLP, a boutique class action litigation firm that focuses on employment and consumer class action litigation. Over the last five years, Mr. Leviant litigated class actions at Initiative Legal Group APC, Khorrami Pollard & Abir, LLP, and Arias Ozzello & Gignac LLP. Before that, Mr. Leviant worked at the small civil litigation firm Stanbury & Fishelman, Inc., where he handled increasingly sophisticated matters, including complex commercial litigations, class actions, appellate matters and civil trials. As a first year associate, Mr. Leviant argued a matter before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (where he was filleted, disemboweled, and generally didn’t do as well as he had hoped, spurring him to improve his appellate advocacy skills).

Mr. Nelson obtained both his Bachelor's Degree and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Southern California and has been practicing in immigration law since 1990. A member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, Mr. Nelson is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Throughout his nearly two decades of practice in the immigration field, Mr. Nelson has been actively advocating for immigration rights. He represented thousands of Filipino war veterans and fought for fair immigration laws and practices on their behalf before the federal courts. In 1996, he also argued the cause of immigrants before the United States Supreme Court in Washington D.C., acting as co-counsel in the landmark Supreme Court case INS vs. Yang.

I am a business attorney with substantial in-house legal experience at companies involved in entertainment and communications technologies. I focus on technology transactions, contracts, trademark and copyright law, and literary law.

I have negotiated and drafted complex, sophisticated contracts involving technology, licensing, joint ventures, and asset purchases. I've also managed an extensive intellectual property portfolio (trademarks and copyrights), and have handled the prosecution of domestic and international trademarks, software licensing, domain name enforcement, and copyright registrations.

Steven G. Pearl is principal of The Pearl Law Firm. He focuses on wage and hour litigation, class actions, unfair competition, and consumer protection litigation. Mr. Pearl earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from the University of California at Berkeley and was a Deanâs Scholar at the University of California Hastings College of the Law. He served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Fern M. Smith, Judge of United States District Court, Northern District of California, and was an associate at a prominent national law firm before opening his own law firm in 1994.

Mr. Pearl is very involved with charitable and pro bono activities and has served on the boards of a number of charitable and community organizations.

Michael P. Ehline, is a former California Court of Appeal Judicial Extern. Alexandra M. Steinberg, Esq. has extensive experience in employment law, in both litigation and counseling. She has represented both management and employees, in individual and class action suits, administrative proceedings, pre-litigation negotiations, contract review, and counseling. Recently she has published and/or edited several articles, including articles in The Daily Journal and Advocate. In 2006, she obtained a published opinion in her favor as appellate counsel in Zavala v. Scott Brothers Dairy, Inc., 143 Cal.App.4th 585 (2006).

As employment law and bankruptcy frequently overlap - particularly where class actions or large corporations have been involved - Ms. Steinberg expanded her practice to include consumer bankruptcy services. In addition, she has helped victims of identity theft gain protection from collectors pursuing debts incurred by someone else.

Ms. Steinberg is also an adjunct professor at University of Southern California Gould School of Law, teaching California Civil Procedure to second and third year law students.
