Before joining Nay & Friedenberg in 2004, Doug practiced law in Oregon and Washington for approximately 15 years, focusing on representation of private professional guardians, conservators and trustees. He has had extensive experience in establishing conservatorships and guardianships in order to protect elderly and disabled persons from financial and physical abuse, and has brought many successful legal actions against persons who have taken advantage of the elderly and disabled. Doug is experienced in contested guardianship and conservatorship proceedings and complex litigation.

Doug is a member of the Oregon State Bar and Washington State Bar Associations. He is also a member of the National Guardianship Association and the Estate Planning Section of the Oregon State Bar. As a member of the Law Offices of Nay & Friedenberg, his practice will continue to focus on these areas in addition to estate planning and elder law.

Amy started with Nay & Friedenberg as an intern while in law school and joined us as an attorney in 2003. Her practice focuses on the area of guardianships and conservatorships, probates, estate planning and Medicaid planning. She has developed a special expertise in pet trusts and planning for our animal-loving clients. In addition, Amy frequently speaks to community groups on elder law issues.

Amy is a member of the Oregon State Bar, the Elder Law Section, the Estate Planning Section and Oregon Women Lawyers. She is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Animal Law Section. She has contributed to the Oregon State Bar's book on Elder Law and the Elder Law Section Newsletter. She volunteers her time with the Senior Law Project, St. Andrews Legal Clinic and the Lewis & Clark Law School Mentor Program.

Garvin comes to the firm having worked as an attorney for the Legal Aid Services of Oregon. In addition to his wealth of litigation experience, he has expertise in the areas of guardianships, conservatorships and Medicaid planning. He has extensive experience representing victims of elder abuse, advocating for the rights of seniors who reside in care facilities and assisting seniors with consumer problems.

Garvin has frequently spoken about elder law topics, giving presentations to audiences in nursing homes, to community organizations and through broadcasts on local television and radio programs. He is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and presently serves on the boards of Parkinson's Resources of Oregon and Metropolitan Senior Network.

Tim has combined decades of clinical social work experience and legal expertise to develop an insightful, innovative and people-friendly approach to assisting his clients. He is the founding President of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and was recognized in 1992 as a Fellow of the Academy.

Tim is a past President of the Oregon Gerontological Association, past Chair and founding member of the Elder Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and past President of the Oregon Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. He is past Chair, Amicus Brief Committee-National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (2003-2006) and also a member of the Medicaid Task Force-National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (2003-present).

He is a founding member and past secretary of the National Alliance of Medicare Set Aside Professionals. Tim is a member of the Oregon State Bar and the Washington State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Advisory Boards of the Academy of Special Needs Planners and the Society of Settlement Planners. Tim was the recipient of the 2007 Unaward of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Jerold W. Hilary is a graduate of University of Oregon and Northwestern School of Law, Lewis and Clark College. He is an active member in the Tigard, Oregon business community and is a past president of the Tigard Chamber of Commerce. His practice focuses on business law, estate planning and probate and trust administration. He volunteers with Legal Aid Services for Senior citizens and is a volunteer judge with the Tigard Peer Court. In 2002 he received the Community Partnership’s Pro Bono Award for his volunteer work.

He is a member of the Oregon State Bar, U.S. District Court of Oregon, Washington County Bar Association, Multnomah Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and a member of the Washington County Probate Bench/Bar Committee.
