I am married and have two step-sons and a beautiful 2 year old granddaughter. My husband and I spend most of our free time with our family.

My practice involves working with families to help them resolve a fairly wide variety of issues. I do a lot of work with families who are divorcing and unmarried parents whose relationship is breaking apart.

We also work with people who are planning for their future by way of estate planning, wills & trusts. We believe that it is important to plan not only for the ultimate distribution of your assets, but also to make sure that you are provided for as well as may be in the event you need your money spent for your needs.

Where families include children who are not legally a part of the family, we help families with step-parent adoptions.

Malissa L. Walden is a native Kansan with an international perspective. After years of living abroad, she returned to pursue her life-long dream of helping others through the practice of law. She has dedicated her career to public service and fully understands the needs of her clients. Ms. Waldenâs main areas of practice include Bankruptcy, Estate Planning, and Domestic.

Not only was Ms. Walden the first attorney at her firm to practice under the new Bankruptcy Code; she also assisted attorneys across the state to become Electronic Case Filing compliant. Due to her experience in Bankruptcy, she is aware that it is not the best option for every client. Because of this, she has a history of advising clients on Bankruptcy alternatives, and negotiating settlements with Collection and Credit Card Companies. Ms. Walden knows and can explain clearly exactly what rights her clients have and how to respond to creditorsâ unwanted calls.

As the previous Elder Law Project Manager for a statewide non-profit, she has handled all stages of Estate Planning, appeared at Social Security Disability Appeal Hearings, advised clients regarding Medicaid/Division of Assets, Medicare, and Health-related collection. She has met with clients and given presentations throughout the state regarding these issues.

Cassie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Fort Hays State University; instead of pursuing graduate school she decided to realize her life-long dream of becoming an attorney. Cassieâs focus in law school was public service and she carried that focus into her legal career.

Though bankruptcy is not an easy decision to make it is possibly a life changing decision for the client and their family.
