Amanda M. Allard
My path to becoming an attorney was certainly a bit unconventional. Currently, I am an attorney licensed in Rhode Island. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from RWU School of Law in August of 2022. However, I decided to become an attorney after having my two amazing children and waiting until I felt they were grown enough for me to take on drastically changing career paths. By doing this, I have a vast professional background beyond just my legal career. I have owned multiple businesses, including a laundromat and a residential construction company. The residential construction company is still running today. I also worked in real estate for about seven years as both a buyer's and seller's agent in RI and MA.
During law school, I interned at Cabrini Green Legal Aid, the RWU Eviction Help Desk, Hampden County Bar Association Legal Clinic, HousingWorks RI, and the Family Court Mediation Unit in RI. I have my certification in Mediation. I won the CALI Award in Family and Divorce Mediation, Collision and Limitation of Liability, Climate Change Law & Policy, and Time Management Strategy Finding Balance, and Designing Your Life as a Lawyer. After passing the bar, I worked for Liberty Mutual, in the insurance defense department, as an attorney handling personal injury cases. I currently still work in insurance defense part time representing municipalities here in Rhode Island.
I currently run my own solo practice, New Legacy Law. NLL is heavily focused on estate planning. Services include wills, trusts, special needs planning, and more. As an attorney, I pride myself on bringing a sense of relatability to assisting my clients with their legal issues or services. It is my job to know the law, but it is also my job to explain the law in a way that makes sense and where my client feels part of the process and understands each step we take. I cultivate relationships with my clients, in an effort to step away from the cold, stiff approach of the traditional lawyer.
