Andrea R. Simmons
Criminal Appeals
Andrea R. Simmons was born in Denton, Texas in 1974. She first earned an Associates's Degree in Criminal Justice from North Central Texas College, followed by a B.A. in 2002 from Texas Woman's University in Government - Public Service, graduating cum laude. And, in 2005, she earned a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law. Andrea was subsequently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
Andrea served as Assistant District Attorney in the Denton County District Attorney’s Office from 2006–2022. The majority of her focus was appellate law. Andrea spent some time in the juvenile division, but primarily worked on appeals (juvenile, adult misdemeanor, adult felony, and parental termination cases). She served as the Chief of the Appellate Division for approximately 3 years. In addition to direct appeals, Andrea also assisted trial teams pre-trial and during trial with their legal research needs and providing legal advice.
Andrea now serves the appellate needs of the citizens of the State of Texas in a different capacity: defending the appellate rights of those convicted of a crime.
