Andrew D. Randol is a Columbus business and litigation attorney. Andrew works with a variety of businesses and entrepreneurs, guiding them through federal and state litigation. Q. What should I consider when starting an LLC in Ohio?
A: Hi:

In the state of Ohio, you should have three things to start an LLC: your articles of organization (filed with the Ohio Secretary of State, your EIN (filed with the IRS), and an operating agreement (between you and the other members).

The articles of organization and EIN are relatively simple. The operating agreement can be as simple or as complex as your case requires.

For example, if you're a single member LLC, you only really need to address the major topics - statutory agent, capital contributions, units and percentage interest, and dissolving the company.
