Benson Varghese is the Managing Partner at Varghese Summersett, one of the largest criminal defense firm in Tarrant County. He is also a Board Certified in Criminal Law, a distinction held by less than 1 percent of attorneys in Texas.
Benson is an experienced litigator who has tried over 100 state and federal cases to Texas juries. He is often called upon to handle complex cases and has become a go-to attorney for intoxication-related offenses in Texas.
Benson has amassed numerous awards and accolades. In 2021, he was elected to serve as the President of the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Two years before that, he was named the 2019 Outstanding Young Lawyer by the Tarrant County Young Lawyer's Association. He has been named a Top Lawyer by Fort Worth Magazine, a Top Attorney by 360 West Magazine, and a Top 100 Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association, among others.
Benson received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University, before obtaining his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. While in law school, Benson Varghese served as an editor for two law journals. He is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, an associate member of Eldon B. Mahon Inns of Court, a past Board Member of Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association, a lifetime member of Christian Trial Lawyers Association, a member of Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, a member of the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and a former member of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association. He volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
