Brandon's first career was as a union electrician in Joliet, IL. Due to an injury on the job, Brandon was forced back to school to find a new field of work. Brandon received his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield in philosophy. He specialized in the philosophy of science, was a distinguished award winner by the faculty of the philosophy department, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Brandon went on to study philosophy & law at Northern Illinois University. As a graduate student in philosophy, Brandon specialized in philosophy of race and gender, philosophy of language, and feminist epistemologies. He performed special research in studies in Whiteness and passed his comprehensive examination on the subject of philosophy of language.
As a law student, Brandon participated in Law Review and was the Notes and Comments Editor, where he assisted other law students in researching and writing their own scholarly articles. Brandon was a research assistant and graduate teaching assistant at his college of law. Brandon's graduate teaching experience includes two semesters of teaching federal civil procedure & one semester of teaching criminal law. He also assisted in mentor sessions in the fields of contracts & torts. He completed a variety of interdisciplinary coursework emphasizing feminist legal theory, philosophy of race and gender, and legal research to earn a graduate certificate in Law & Women's and Gender Studies. His thesis focused on legal issues and advocacy of trans rights for trans and genderqueer adults and children.
Immediately after law school, Brandon began working as an Assistant State's Attorney for Peoria County. He began in the traffic division then moved to the DUI courtroom. Brandon also worked in the juvenile division in both the juvenile delinquency & the juvenile abuse and neglect courtrooms. Brandon has since decided to focus his energy and skills on helping injured people in civil litigation.
