Legal Answers
Q. I received a ticket for expired license plate. I went to the DMV and paid for a new registration sticker.
A: Contact the Clerk's Office at the courthouse to see what action was taken. You may need to file a motion to bring the ticket back into court.
Q. If you have a accident with another vehicle and receive a ticket for ignoring traffic light. Should you sign and pay.
A: You should not pay the ticket. In the majority of these matters, there is a good chance of a dismissal or at least avoiding a conviction by appearing in court. An attorney can certainly assist you.
Q. I got my first speeding ticket in Pekin, IL for going 77 / 45. I’d go early to pay, but I don’t know how much it cost.
A: Speeding 26-34 over the limit is a Class B misdemeanor. Because it’s a criminal charge, a court appearance is required. It would be recommended that you appear in court with a lawyer to ensure the best possible result. Contact an attorney that practices in the county / courthouse where your case is pending for a consultation.
