Brian P. Ballo
Brian P. Ballo has been a real estate attorney for 28 years in Orange and San Diego counties. Currently, his practice is focused on representing homeowners in lawsuits against lenders seeking to foreclose, and negotiating loan modifications, forbearance agreements, short sale transaction approvals, and deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure. Brian is skilled in articulating cause of actions against lenders who have violated laws at the time of loan origination and closing, as well as during the foreclosure, loan modification and short sale processes. He has successfully obtained Temporary Restraining Orders and Preliminary Injunctions against Bank of America, Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase, stopping foreclosure sales against borrowers' homes. He has arranged loan modifications for scores of borrowers both under the Home Affordable Modification Program (“HAMP”), as well as lender in-house modification programs. He regularly participates in court-supervised loan mediation settlement conferences. Previously, Brian was a lender counsel, responsible for drafting hundreds of sets of commercial loan documents for Washington Mutual, IndyMac, IMPAC, Downey Savings and several credit unions. Currently, Brian represents residential borrowers who have experienced a financial hardship, but earn sufficient income to make a reduced mortgage payment. Brian is a member of the California Bar, having received his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law (Law Review, Lead Articles Editor), and a LL.M. in Taxation from University of San Diego. He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan. He also holds a California real estate broker’s license.
