About Carolyn J. Stevens
I was inspired to University of Montana School of Law by my own lawyer when I divorced as an undergraduate. My divorce lawyer was also a divorced mother, and a 3rd year law student working at the university's law clinic. I graduated law school in 1993 (yes, those kids cheering in the balcony were mine). I was a family law attorney for 20 years, helping clients with separation and dissolution of marriage, division of property and debt, parenting issues, child support. I also volunteered with the Crime Victim Advocate's program that helped victims of partner and family violence obtain orders of protection. My experiences as a divorced parent, a family law attorney, and a volunteer with the Crime Victim Advocate's program convinced me that "court battle" and "custody battle" is not the best way to resolve disputes.
