Biography

You deserve an injury attorney who is a FORMER INSURANCE ADJUSTER and a FORMER INSURANCE DEFENSE ATTORNEY. Attorney Chelsie Lamie is both and she has been fighting exclusively for accident and injury clients since 2008.

Attorney Lamie was trained by insurance companies to minimize and defend against the claims of car accident victims as an insurance adjuster and, after graduating from law school, as an insurance defense attorney.

Chelsie understands what motivates insurance carriers to fairly settle claims and has enjoyed using what she learned as an adjuster and insurance defense attorney for the benefit of our injury clients. In 2008, Chelsie switched sides and began practicing exclusively plaintiffs personal injury.

Chelsie is an accident survivor herself, having been hit head-on at over 100 miles per hour while she was a student at Stetson University College of Law. Chelsie knows first hand how a crash or other serious personal injury can change your life. She and her team pride themselves on giving each client the personal attention that their case deserves.

Attorney Chelsie Lamie handles cases throughout the entire state of Florida, with offices in Pinellas, Hillsborough and other counties from the panhandle to the keys.

Q. Husband died in car wreck, separated at time of death. 4 kids but only 2 under 19. Does settlement have to go in trust?
A: I’m very sorry to hear of the passing of the father of your children. In a nutshell, in the State of Florida any settlement for a minor when the case is in litigation must have court approval and usually all funds over $15,001 are put into a protected account for the child. Even if the case is not in litigation, any case where global settlement proceeds exceed $50K or where any amount to the child under 18 is 15,001 or more, again, the Court must grant approval of the settlement and will make sure that the monies are put into a protected vehicle to ensure the money goes to the child after reaching 18. This is done to protect children. Often you will be able to work with the GAL hired by your PI atty to help choose the appropriate account and even set it up to be staggered — giving the child x amount at 18 or 21 or 30, etc. ... Q. what does uninsured motorist coverage cover exactly?
A: Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage pays you for your medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering when the person who hit you didn’t have any - or enough - insurance. It “stands in the shoes” of the person who hit you and attempts to make you whole from your injuries. It is estimated that over 25% of Florida drivers don’t have insurance so this truly is a must have to protect yourself and your family. Unfortunately, many insurance agents don’t properly advise their customers about this and even suggest not having it to save a few dollars in premium to earn your business. Everyone should have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage on their auto policy. Please note, this educational post does not create an attorney/client relationship. Attorney Chelsie Lamie and her firm, Florida Injury Attorneys, must be directly contacted and a written contract for legal representation must be executed by Attorney Lamie and the client for an attorney/client relationship to be formed. ... Q. If someone assaulted you a long time ago at a club can you still press charges
A: I'm really sorry that this happened to you. A great deal of my practice is negligent security cases, which includes physical assault, shootings and rape/sexual assault or molestation at a business (hotel, massage center, clubs, parking lots, etc.). Under normal circumstances, you have 4 (four) years from the date of the incident to file a lawsuit to preserve your statute of limitations. You should immediately retain a lawyer to evaluate whether or not you can still file suit and if so, to actually file suit to preserve your claim. Timely reporting of the crime, timely notice to the potential defendants and hiring an attorney to immediately attempt to preserve any witness testimony and physical evidence is so important in these types of cases. I wish you well! ... Read More
