Legal Answers
- Q. We currently have a case in SC but recently moved to OH... would we have to obtain a lawyer in SC or OH?
- A: If you have an active domestic case in SC, that court retains jurisdiction. You would need to find a lawyer in SC. A motion can be made in that court to transfer the case to an Ohio court in very limited circumstances.

- Q. How can I get my rights as a father the DNA test is already done. I just don't know how to get my parental rights.
- A: You will have to file a complaint in the appropriate court for the establishment of parental rights and responsibilities. Retain the assistance of counsel to advise you and to ensure that everything is done properly.

- Q. I lost my children due to allegations against my now deceased husband that were not proven. No charges were pressed.
- A: Based on the limited information that you have provided, I would advise consulting with an experienced domestic relations attorney that can assist you with filing a motion to modify parental rights and responsibilities. Depending on who currently has custody of your children and/or who removed the children in the first place you might also have to comply with a "reunification" plan or something similar.
