Legal Answers
Q. I work for a psych practice in Maryland. As an admin staff. Can my employer withhold pay due to me flexing coverage?
A: You must always be paid for hours worked, so long as the employer permitted the work or you had a reasonable expectation (based on policy or lack of an opposite policy). You should ask for a more definite statement of what company policy or MD law you supposedly violated.
Q. When you file a certificate of service with the court does that mean you have already serve the papers?
A: A certificate of service is filed with a court to show that documents related to the case have been mailed to the opposing party (or opposing counsel).

This is different than saying that a party has been properly served the summons to initiate the case. It could be different in your state, but in general, at the initiation of a case, personal service must be effected on the defendant(s). This is different than the type of service contemplated by a Certificate of Service.
