Elizabeth Barnhard
Elizabeth Barnhard is the Chair of the Pharma/Biotech Practice Group, working closely with clients to protect new inventions and products, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and biological products and related technologies. With her many years of pharma industry and law firm experience, she helps clients create robust intellectual property portfolios that add value to their businesses. Having conducted, authored and supervised many patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement, validity, product and manufacturing patent clearances in the areas of oncology/immunology, infectious diseases, virology, central nervous system disorders, cardiovascular/metabolic disorders, and molecular genetics, she helps her clients arrive at creative, value-adding solutions.
Ms. Barnhard is experienced in preparation and prosecution of biological, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, chemical, chemical engineering and mechanical arts patent applications, management of complex patent portfolios for major research and development alliances, and performing transactional and licensing work. She is experienced in all phases of litigation and appeals of patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition actions in federal and state courts, and Section 337 proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Ms. Barnhard is a Board member and Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property and the Awards Committees of the Westchester Women’s Bar Association, a Board member of Mount Carmel Public Utility Company, and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship Journal. Her article, co-authored with Amy Gallup Klann, “Navigating the Sea Changes in Patent Law to Successfully Build Value” was selected as the Editor’s Choice in the March 2015 issue of Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (Vol. 2, No. 1, pp.14-30).
