Biography

A lawyer who understands the concerns you have and the situations you are going through, may be hard to find. As someone who has been through a divorce and heavily involved in the criminal justice system, attorney Heath L. Baker may understand your concerns regarding your family law, criminal law, and personal injury cases, more than you would expect.

Mr. Baker understands what it is like to face emotionally difficult situations, which go beyond “winning” a case.

Mr. Baker retired from the Riverside Police Department after obtaining years of experience with the courts, investigations, and the judicial process, seeing both sides of the criminal prosecution system. After retiring from the police department, Heath worked as a licensed private investigator working in both the criminal and civil arena; focusing on family law and child custody cases for more than six years. During that time, he mastered the skill of supporting legal cases for other attorneys using investigations, which he now uses exclusively for his own clients.

Mr. Baker is local to the Riverside area and offers you that “home team” advantage; raised in Riverside, he attended California Baptist University and California Southern Law School. He is devoted to remain in his community where he has lived his entire life, and enjoys spending his off time with his children and grandchildren.

Attorney Heath L. Baker has been admitted to the California State Bar and the United States District Court, Central District of California. Heath has a passion for family law issues, and estate planning. If you have questions about divorce, custody, support, wills, trusts, or health care directives, call us today!

Legal Answers
Q. Which form do I need to fill out to petition for adoption for an adult adoption?
A: Check your county's court website and see if they have any local forms that are required or acceptable. In Riverside County, the court has a local form that provides for all of the needed information. (You could always go to their website and pull the local form for your pleading paper petition, if needed.)

In addition to the petition, you will need the consent of the spouse of the person being adopted and of the person doing the adoption.

If you provide the Court with the petition, the agreement, the order, and the consents, an adult adoption is usually very easy and handled in one hearing.

Best of Luck.
Q. Where do I find the will and the trust paperwork
A: The estate plans that I build for my clients (include a Will, Trust, Health Care Directive, and Power of Attorney - minimum) are each individual to the person who is trying to protect their loved ones.

Most of the Wills and Trusts I create are NOT "fill in the blank" or "check the box" type forms; rather, they are specific to the client.

When you ask: Where do I find the paperwork? Do you mean for yourself to prepare or are you trying to find the estate plan of a family member that is already done?

For your own plan, you will need to prepare the documents. Because the language and legal requirements are specific I suggest you work with a knowledgeable attorney. If you are looking for someone else's estate plan documents, you might have to just look.

The beauty of an estate plan is they are private and do not need to be recorded.

Estate plans should be kept in a fire proof box or safe, where the trustee has access. Most attorneys do not hold on to the estate plan for their clients, but many do. You can try there, as well.

Best of luck.
