Heather S. Mayer
Education Ms. Mayer graduated from the University of California, Davis with degrees in Political Science and Communications. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law with a Certificate in Public Interest and Social Justice. Awards and Honors During law school, Heather Mayer was recognized with the Award for Best Oral Advocate and the Pro Bono Award. Ms. Mayer is the recipient of the prestigious Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Wills & Trusts, Advanced Legal Writing, Interviewing & Counseling, and for the Advanced Practice Clinic of the Northern California Innocence Project. She also earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in both Family Wealth Management and Community Property. Practical Experience Heather Mayer’s background includes working for both an estate planning law firm and a family law firm. Ms. Mayer is well-versed in all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, custody and support. She is experienced in preparing estate plans, including advanced health care directives, grant deeds, wills, codicils, and trusts and she clerked in the Probate Department of the Sacramento Superior Court. Ms. Mayer also worked in-house as an attorney for the Department of Health Care Services, this position helped her to better understand the intricacies involved in estate planning for Medi-Cal or Medicare beneficiaries. The combination of Ms. Mayer’s academic and practical experience is the reason she is such an excellent advocate for her clients.
