Managing Partner: Gum, Hillier & McCroskey PA; 1979 - 2017; I limit my practice to complex family and matrimonial law matters involving valuation and analysis of large martial estates, closely held businesses and professional practices. I am frequently associated to assist primary counsel in these matters. My staff and I specialize in handling only these kinds of cases. We are keenly aware of the emotional and psychological trauma associated with divorce and provide an environment where those needs are respected and addressed. I am a Certified Family Law Arbitrator and Mediator and employ various forms of alternative dispute resolution to assist families in building lasting resolutions. However, when these are unsuccessful or inappropriate, I am first and foremost a litigator and bring a wealth of expertise to the trial of these matters. I am a frequent speaker at CLE programs for lawyers and have written and presented manuscripts on different topics relating to family law, as well as arbitration training programs on behalf of the AAML. I am a Certified Family Law Specialist by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization and have been so certified since the Board first offered this designation in 1989. I am also a Certified Family Law Arbitrator and Mediator, certified by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
