Husain Gatlin
Mr. Gatlin is committed to the rigorous representation of individuals facing criminal prosecution. He is experienced in a broad range of criminal litigation, having handled hundreds of cases from initial discovery through judgment as lead counsel. His years of service are fueled by an unwavering belief in defending and enforcing the constitutional rights of the men and women in our society who most need protection.
Mr. Gatlin graduated from Georgetown University. He then earned his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was a Service Law Fellowship Scholar. Prior to graduation, Mr. Gatlin gained considerable experience, including judicial externships with the Hon. Julio M. Fuentes, U.S.C.J. (3d Cir.) and the Hon. Susan D. Wigenton, U.S.D.J. (D.N.J). He also participated in the school’s Center for Social Justice—Juvenile Justice Clinic.
Following law school, Mr. Gatlin clerked for the Hon. Sherry A. Hutchins-Henderson, Judge of the Superior Court—Essex Vicinage. Thereafter, he entered government service and began his career with the largest public interest firm in the State of New Jersey as an Assistant Deputy Public Defender and later joined the Law Offices of Brian J. Neary.
In May of 2016, Mr. Gatlin established the Law Office of Husain A. Gatlin which is located in heart of downtown Newark. His practice primarily focuses on criminal defense, motor-vehicle offenses, and expungements.
