His vision and business savy also led his company to become the first Latin music venture to sign digital music distribution deals with the major record labels including Sony Music, BMG Music, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group, securing his position as a dealmaker. Under his leadership, Ritmoteca forged strategic alliances with companies including Microsoft, AOL, Real Networks, Nokia, Motorola, MusicNet and Napster. - Q. Do we need to lawyer up at this point?
- A: Should have consulted with a lawyer prior to communicating anything with the employer or turning anything over. Whatever agreements may have been executed between the parties prior to or after the termination should be factually determinative if anything expressed in writing exists.
- Q. If I write my own lyrics and generate music free Suno AI,can I,usethe resulting song in YouTube videos without copyright
- A: Like everything else “It Depends.” If the lyrics are 100% yours then you are good to go with that. If the AI generates original music for your lyrics, you are fine too. However, if the AI scraped previous copyright protected recordings like “X” and/or if you asked the AI, for instance to “make me a song that sounds like “X” and “X” is a copyright protected song, you could open yourself up to being sued by the owner of the “X” copyright. In addition, if AI generates original music 100% on its own, you may not be able to copyright it. This is all a very new and still gray area of the law.
- Q. I was offered a contract for 55,000$ to sign my royalties over and I believe I am being lowballed
- A: You need to consult with an experienced entertainment lawyer and have them review the proposed agreement and give your their opinion before signing anything.
