Izak is Associate General Counsel for Access Now (an international human rights organization that defends and extends the digital rights of users at risk) where he acts as global in-house counsel, advising on international operations and compliance, and facilitating policy, advocacy, digital security, and grants programs. He is a licensed Attorney in New York and Washington DC (USA), and a Barrister & Solicitor in Ontario (Canada), and also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional - EU (CIPP/E) designation.
Prior to Access Now, Izak practiced commercial litigation and corporate law at a firm in Toronto, Canada. He obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Melbourne, having also studied law at McGill University.
Izak is an active member of the legal community, and is currently an Associate Judge - Awards and Subgrants for the American Bar Association (ABA), Arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), member of the ABA Pro Bono Taskforce, and Young Mediator with the International Mediation Institute (IMI).
Outside of his practice, Izak serves as an Auxiliarist with the US Coast Guard, Pro Bono Lawyer with the Earth Law Center, Volunteer Attorney with Pro Bono Partnership, Pro Bono Attorney with the ABA's "Free Legal Answers", member of World Animal Protection's Young Professionals' Council, Volunteer Attorney with the City Bar Justice Center, and mentor with the NYSBA and Melbourne Law School. He is also an Ambassador for Digital Grassroots, and Member of the Harvard Law School Systemic Justice Initiative.
