Jacob K. Weixler is a dedicated attorney who represents clients in federal criminal proceedings, civil lawsuits, and professional disciplinary proceedings. He also provides counsel on business law matters. He has represented a diverse range of clients facing various challenges, including defending the first amendment rights of a national civil rights figure, assisting a former military official facing fraud and conspiracy charges, fighting for the rights of cheated investors, and seeking justice for incarcerated individuals.
Prior to establishing Weixler Law LLC, Jacob gained valuable experience as an attorney at Schonekas Evans McGoey & McEachin, LLC, a respected New Orleans-based boutique law firm specializing in complex and high-profile criminal and civil cases for individuals and small companies. Jacob also worked at two international law firms, Locke Lord LLP and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. At Locke Lord, Jacob represented large companies in complex litigation matters throughout Louisiana. While at Akin Gump in Washington, D.C., Jacob focused on litigation and white-collar criminal defense, representing companies accused of misconduct both domestically and internationally. He was also part of Akin Gump's Pro Bono Scholars program.
Jacob earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a recipient of the Sandberg Family Scholarship. During his time in law school, he and a fellow student secured the exoneration and release of an individual who had served 35 years of a life sentence for a wrongful conviction. Jacob also served as the Executive Articles Editor of the Michigan Journal of Race and Law, a prominent civil rights law journal. He graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University with a B.A. in American Studies.
