Jim Silverstein practices in the areas of admiralty and maritime, products liability, energy, construction and environmental law.
Jim has extensive litigation experience, and has successfully defended clients in cases involving various aspects of maritime, admiralty, energy, and oil and gas law. He also maintains an active practice successfully defending manufacturers in product liability cases. He has defended cases involving numerous products, including ladders, electrical motors, fans, table saws, radial arm saws, planers, power tools, cranes and pumps. He has also successfully defended and prosecuted cases in the commercial litigation field.
Jim is an accomplished trial lawyer and is listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers, 2010-2019 and The Best Lawyers in America, 2012-2020. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL). He currently maintains an "AV" Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest level of professional excellence.
Jim has tried in excess of 65 cases to a conclusion, obtaining defense verdicts in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
Jim earned his B.A., cum laude, from Tulane University in 1977. He earned his J.D, cum laude, in 1981 from the Tulane University Law School.
