Jared William Olen
Conquer Your Criminal Case
At a young age, Pasadena criminal defense lawyer, Jared Olen, discovered his passion for advocating for others. As a human-rights activist, Jared worked tirelessly to shed light on the plight of political prisoners around the world and work to secure their freedom.
While in law school, Jared gained hundreds of hours of invaluable experience fighting for traditionally lower-represented clients working at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office and the Immigration Law Clinic. While in law school, Jared wrote a paper interpreting a vague, federal criminal statute, which was later published internationally in the Southwestern Law Review. He also accrued invaluable experience in legal research as a national student intern for Westlaw, a legal-research company.
Additionally, Jared received dozens of awards for receiving the highest grades in nearly every law-school class he took. He also received a full scholarship to the school based on academic merit. Further, he received the First Place Brief Writer Award in appellate advocacy and awards in trial advocacy.
In 2013, Jared graduated summa cum laude from Southwestern Law School and received the honor of working as a federal judicial law clerk for the Hon. Otis D. Wright, II, at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. There, Jared amassed significant experience in the functioning of the judicial system and the complexities of federal civil and criminal litigation.
In 2014, Jared joined the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office as a deputy public defender. Throughout his nearly eight years of experience with the office, Jared zealously advocated for thousands of indigent adult and juvenile clients at all stages of criminal prosecution, including dozens of jury trials. Jared handled cases at all levels of seriousness, including domestic violence, DUIs, drug possession and sales, sexual assault, robbery, assaults, criminal threats, kidnapping, and murder.
