A graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2010, after a first career working in higher education administration and teaching in the U.S. and Asia. These experiences have helped shape my choice of practice. I am committed to promoting individual opportunity and personal development.
I do this through my solo Law Office at an individual level. My legal practice is focused on helping people secure the opportunities that the United States has to offer by helping them identify pathways to immigration, assisting with the legal process, and guiding them through the moral and professional choices that will guarantee success. I have been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2013 and advocate for comprehensive changes to our immigration law to create new pathways that will reward deserving individuals, and benefit our communities and economy.
I work to create and improve educational opportunities in our country at a broader level as well. As a Principal at Spangehl Higher Education Associates I advise institutions of higher education on how to achieve compliance with quality standards, better their student outcome performance, and improve their governing, planning, operational, and academic processes. I focus on the importance of mission, planning, assessment and the application of continuous improvement processes to drive substantive performance improvements, ensure they can be documented and evaluated, and forcefully present that case to private accrediting agencies and governmental regulators.
I also work with visionary educators at both the enterprise and regulatory level. I help plan and guide the development of new institutions of higher education to achieve their full potential. I have also helped found the Commission on Quality in Higher Education, a 501(c)(3) charity striving to provide a new pathway to higher education accreditation prioritizing innovation, self evaluation, and validation of continuous improvement.

I provide free initial case evaluation or consultation by phone. For immigration legal clients, I review case history, identify potential pathways, and direct the collection of documents necessary for a more thorough case evaluation. I charge for a full evaluation, but apply those fees toward any representation agreement, for which I offer a flat fee. For potential consulting clients, both institutions and investors, I do not charge for initial discussions about concerns, goals, and pathways leading to a formal contract proposal.
