Summary

Attorney Bio Jeffery P. Story, Attorney at Law: Jeff Story graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 2005 and was admitted to the Illinois State Bar that same year. During the past eight years he has worked in civil litigation in Chicago. He is married to Amy Marinacci, a fellow attorney that he met in law school. Amy grew up in Evanston where her family still lives. Jeff and Amy have a young son, Gabriel who goes to Pope John XXIII School in Evanston. Jeff recently lost his mother and father within two months of each other and has personal insight into what a living will, funeral planning and a family trust can mean to the family of a disabled or recently deceased person. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, National and State Chapters; Elder Counsel, LLC; the Illinois State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Trusts and Estates Sections; and the Chicago Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee. Jeff enjoys working with elders and their families to help them plan for aging and also helping them to choose the best legal options available to remove themselves from crises when they arise. When he is not practicing law, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and son; cooking for his friends and family; playing his guitars; bicycle restoration and riding and listening to good Jazz music.

  • Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
Fee Rates My Fee Rates and Initial Meeting When you call and let me know the nature of your legal case, if it is in my practice areas, I will work with you to schedule an appointment when we can meet. This first meeting is my initial consultation meeting and the fee is applied to your overall cost, if you decide to retain my services. During the course of the meeting we will discuss your legal concerns and goals. I will lay out a range of options for your consideration, among them the cost for my services. I will also give you client intake questionnaires to be completed before the work begins. I will also need to receive a retainer fee from you in order to proceed. After the first meeting I will draft an engagement letter that outlines what work I will be doing for you and clearly states my fee rates. If that is agreeable to you, you will sign it and send it back to me and my work for you will start. A typical estate plan ranges between $1,000-$5,000, depending upon the complexity of the plan. An Elder Law matter typically ranges from $2,000 – $10,000. Whenever possible I will offer you a flat fee for my services that is payable by credit card or Paypal, if that is more convenient for you. Clients generally prefer a flat fee because it is predictable and clear from the outset just what their total cost will be. My rates reflect my expertise and the amount of non-billable time I spend staying on top of the latest developments in Elder Law in order to offer you the utmost in service. You may rest assured that any calls made to me for case status will be returned within 24 hours.
