Biography

After learning about how poorly our pets are treated under the current law, I have been on a mission to 'bark back' on behalf of our pets who cannot speak for themselves.

By handling over 100 cases a year, my firm is establishing a new way of compelling courts and authorities to listen to all of the facts in pet related cases such as: pet custody matters, dangerous dog hearings, wrongful pet injury and dog bite law suits.

Having co-parented Jesse the German shepherd and now Maisey, our Golden retriever, my family and I are amazed daily by the support and encouragement people give to me for establishing Boston Dog Lawyers. We are not surprised by how strongly people feel about their pets and now they have a law firm that is equally passionate to protect their rights.

Legal Answers
Q. My dog got ran over.Lady came back an hour later wanting reimbursement for car damage.Cant find my dog. What can I do?
A: Hello,

Helpful information can be found on the county website, division of animal control. The website states: Animals are not permitted to run at large in Marshall County pursuant to state law. (Code of Alabama, Section 3-1-5).

They also may be able to assist you in locating your dog if your dog is still missing. Their website can be accessed at: http://marshallcountyanimalcontrolalabama.weebly.com
Q. Can we try to get reimbursed for tests and cremation of my dog that just passed because of misdiagnosis and negligence
A: Hello,

Instances like this typically involve obtaining all of the records from the involved vet, sending them out to one of our experts to determine if there is a potential valid claim, and if so, sending a demand letter to the involved vet. If you would like our office to take a closer look at your situation, feel free to reach out to us at office@bostondoglawyers.com.
Q. Are you still legally able to have a pet if you are charged with animal abuse?
A: Hello,

Laws vary from state to state. For the state of Rhode Island, it may be helpful to read through R.I. Gen. Laws §§ 4-1-22(b), 4-1-40:

§ 4-1-40. Possession of animals

(a) In addition to any other penalty imposed by law, a person convicted of, or who entered a plea of nolo contendere to, any misdemeanor violation under the provisions of this chapter may, based on the discretion of the sentencing judge, not possess or reside with any animal for a period of up to five (5) years following entry of the conviction or upon acceptance of a plea of nolo contendere by the court. Any offense under this subsection is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), by imprisonment for a term not more than one year, or both, and forfeiture of the animal(s).

(b) In addition to any other penalty imposed by law, a person convicted of, or who entered a plea of nolo contendere to, any felony violation under the provisions of this chapter may, based on the discretion of the sentencing judge, not possess or reside with any animal for a period of up to fifteen (15) years following entry of the conviction or upon acceptance of a plea of nolo contendere by the court. Any offense under this subsection is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), by imprisonment for a term not more than one year, or both, and forfeiture of the animal(s).
