Hawaii's Shoreline Coastal Law and Regulation, Honolulu, HI
The Seminar Group
As the only island state in the Union, shoreline management and coastal hazards have been an issue of concern for Hawaii since time immemorial. Regulators, policymakers, landowners, and the general public are confronted with balancing various demands related to public trust resources, native Hawaiian rights, property rights, environmental considerations, and economic development. Now, more than ever, with the realization that we need to plan for the impacts caused by our changing climate, existing regulations and policies will need to change. Please join us as we consider these issues. The program will cover recent Hawaii case law, including the recent Hawaii Supreme Court decision regarding identifying the certified shoreline.
