Biography

Attorney John Houghton has served as lead trial counsel in multiple severe injury cases throughout the state of Georgia. Having tried numerous cases to jury verdict, John approaches each case based on what will provide the most impact at trial. The Houghton Law Firm, LLC, commits significant resources to trial preparation for each case, and does not employ a cookie-cutter strategy like many of the volume-based settlement firms. Our firm is a boutique trial practice committed to maximizing the value of each case on an individual basis.

John was selected for inclusion in Georgia Rising Stars from 2011 to 2020 and in Georgia Super Lawyers in 2022. Since starting his own practice, he has also been featured in articles in Atlanta Magazine multiple times. In addition, he has been named to The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40 list in the state of Georgia. He has dedicated his legal career to representing victims of severe and catastrophic personal injuries as well as families who have lost loved ones as the result of negligence or wrongdoing of others. He is admitted to practice in all superior and state courts of Georgia, including the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals, as well as all federal courts in the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia.

In a legal marketplace with many volume practitioners, John limits his practice to a few cases at a time so that he can focus on each client individually. He remains friends with all of his clients, past and present, and brings a unique level of personal attention to each person he represents. Any client of The Houghton Law Firm, LLC, becomes a friend of John’s for life.

Additionally, John enjoys volunteer work and has dedicated a considerable amount of his time to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Georgia) and The Shepherd Center. He is an active member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA) and Civil Justice PAC.
