John Daniel Hodson
John Hodson is managing and founding partner of Hodson & Mullin, Attorneys at Law, a six lawyer firm with offices in Vacaville and Fairfield, California. He is AV-Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell, a board-Certified Family Law Specialist (California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization) and a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). His practice is entirely devoted to family law as litigant's counsel, arbitrator, mediator, private judge, judge pro tem, special master, and collaborative counsel spanning over 30 years.
A graduate of The George Washington University National Law Center in Washington, D.C., Mr. Hodson served more than two decades with the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps. He has litigated hundreds of cases throughout the U.S. and overseas.
Mr. Hodson is Past Chair and Adviser to the State Bar of California Family Law Section Executive Committee (FlexCom); past Secretary, Education Director and Legislative Director for the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS); long-time member of the Editorial Board for The Specialist and Family Law News quarterly scholarly publications; member of the AAML National Legislative Committee and past Legislative Liaison for AAML's Northern California Chapter. He is a member of the Judicial Council’s Family and Juvenile Advisory Committee, an arbitrator for the State Bar of California Mandatory Fee Arbitration Panel, and has chaired the Napa/Solano County Bar Associations Mandatory Fee Arbitration Panels for many years.
He is a member of the Pennsylvania and California state bars, and is admitted to the federal and military appellate courts. He has been a perennial Northern California Super Lawyer since 2005; winner of the SCBA’s Attorney of the Year Award, and the ACFLS Sterling Award in 2017. He is recognized among the Nation’s Top One Percent of attorneys, and is a charter member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
