Joseph Maternowski is a shareholder at the Hessian & McKasy firm in Minneapolis practicing in the areas of environmental, real estate and business law. Joe began his legal career in the Minnesota Attorney General's Office where he represented the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Joe focuses his private practice on environmental matters arising in real estate and business transactions. Joe has extensive experience with site investigations and cleanups, vapor intrusion assessments, state Brownfields programs and with federal and state environmental agencies. Joe assists real estate and business lawyers and in house counsel on transactions where environmental issues arise. He helps clients obtain liability assurances from state and federal authorities and is often involved with enforcement defense and cost recovery litigation. Joe is an experienced attorney who has been active in the Minnesota State Bar Association serving as Chair and Section Council member of the MSBA's Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Law Section. Joe is a frequent speaker at CLEs and recently was asked to prepare a series of CLEs on environmental law topics that are directed to business and real estate attorneys. Joe serves as outside environmental counsel to a number of national, regional and local corporations.
