Karen Laifer
Karen Laifer received her Juris Doctorate degree from New York University School of Law in 1990 and graduated magna cum laude in 1987 from Barnard College, Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. While in law school, Ms. Laifer clerked for the Hon. Kathleen Roberts, S.D.N.Y., and upon graduation, she worked as an associate at Milbank,Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. In 2006, Ms. Laifer founded her own private practice in Teaneck, NJ, focusing solely in the area of divorce and family law, custody, post judgment family law matters, parent coordination, mediation, and collaborative law. Her practice extends to counties throughout Northern New Jersey. Ms. Laifer has been a certified mediator since 2007 and is a member of both the Collaborative Divorce Association of North Jersey and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Ms. Laifer received the State Senate and General Assembly of New Jersey Joint Legislative Resolution award acknowledging her work on behalf of Project S.A.R.A.H. (Stop Abusive Relationships at Home). She has provided free legal counsel to victims of domestic violence for the past 10 years and serves on the advisory council of Project S.A.R.A.H.
