Katherine A. K. Mumma
Kathy’s practice focuses on the resolution of employment and complex commercial litigation and pre-litigation disputes. She has represented clients before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. In that capacity she has successfully moved to dismiss a FLSA complaint brought against a quasi-public entity, defeated summary judgment in Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower retaliation litigation, and successfully opposed motions for preliminary injunction in matters involving alleged breaches of covenants not to compete. Kathy also has an active appellate practice, having authored or participated in numerous appellate briefs in Massachusetts and federal appellate courts for clients. Having been in human resources prior to her legal career, Kathy is also adept managing risk. She advises clients on human resources issues, including hiring and firing, wage and hour requirements, and disability and FMLA leave, and reviews policies and procedures. She also has experience conducting internal investigations. Kathy also serves as Clerk of the Parish at Grace Episcopal Church in Medford and as Chair of the Oversight Committee for GraceWorks After-School and Child Care Program.
