Biography

Kevin Courtney is an attorney at the Military Law Center. He is dedicated to protecting service members' Reputations, Careers, and Freedoms, and restoring HONOR to veterans. His military law practice focuses on representing service members at courts-martial, administrative hearings, and through appeals. His veterans law practice includes representing veterans petitioning the boards of corrections for military records, upgrading military discharges, and expunging DNA records from military databases (but he does not do VA Disability Claims).

Kevin previously served in the Marine Corps and worked as a defense attorney, clerked for the Navy and Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, and served as an assistant prosecutor. As a judge advocate at Camp Pendleton, California, he represented Marines and Sailors at courts-martial, administrative separation hearings, and advised service members regarding their legal rights at non-judicial punishment and through investigations. For his exceptional work as a defense attorney, Kevin earned the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Kevin handled complex criminal litigation involving sex crimes, domestic violence, financial and computer crimes, and military specific offenses. As a trial attorney with in-court experience and extensive motions work, Kevin now focuses his practice on ensuring service members get the best representation for their case.

Kevin earned his juris doctorate at the University of California, Law, San Francisco (previously UC Hastings, College of the Law) and his bachelor's degree from the University of California, San Diego. He is licensed to practice in California.
