At The Pace Law Firm, we focus on defending people accused of domestic assault in and around Austin, Texas. Our mission is to provide the highest quality representation and the best possible result for each client.

To achieve these goals, we have a team of skilled professionals who understand that successful attorney-client relationships are built on communication, trust, and compassion. We care about our clients and take the time to listen to their concerns.
Our Clients Are Good People

We do not represent common criminals. Our clients are the type of people who plan for their futures and generally make good decisions in life. Being accused of a crime is one of the most stressful situations that many of them have ever faced.

Our clients also understand that a conviction on their criminal records will do permanent damage to their reputations, their careers, and their futures. They are good people that cannot afford to NOT to be represented by an exceptional defense team that focuses on defending people accused of domestic assault.

Legal Answers
Q. A situation happened where I was hit in the face with a door due to domestic dispute between my friend and her boyfriend
A: It sounds like your "friend" has now committed the felony of Tampering With a Witness against you. See Section 36.05 of the Texas Penal Code. It may be in your best interest to stay away from these people. Depending on which jurisdiction put you on probation and when, it may also be a condition of your probation to avoid known felons.
Q. Once deferred adjudication probation is completed and the case has been closed, can the court pull your probation record
A: Everyone has access to the records unless they are sealed. Courts and law enforcement have access to sealed records, and so do the types of people listed in section 411.0765 of the Texas Government Code which you can view here: https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/GV/htm/GV.411.htm#411.0765 Sealed records can also be used by court and prosecution if the defendant is subsequently put on trial for another offense. So there are a lot of exceptions to who can see sealed records, but they don't show up in a normal civilian background check that isn't covered by one of the exceptions.
Q. If I'm defending myself in a harassment case misdemeanor Class C ..am I allowed my discovery from county attorney
A: The prosecution MUST give a defendant discovery if he or she makes a request in accordance with 39.14 Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. "We don't do that here" and "this is our standard discovery package" are not valid responses to a timely request. In fact, a class C defendant could technically drop a multi-page request on them that is worthy of a felony, and then ask the judge for a hearing on the evidence the prosecution chooses to withhold or redact. But if the state doesn't want to play ball, the defense will get rule-booked and home-teamed to a level some attorneys can't handle... so good luck doing it yourself. I like to file a copy of the discovery request* with the court clerk's office on the same day it is delivered to the prosecution. * Including a certificate of service.
