Legal Answers
Q. Will I run into problems if I marry my fiance who resides in another country before I become a us citizen?
A: No. You will not have a problem. You may file the Alien Relative Petition as soon as you are married. Your spouse may file for his immigrant visa when you become a USC, or; As soon as the Alien Relative Petition is approved provided there is no wait for a priority date to be current and you are not yet a USC he may file for his immigrant visa..
Q. My partner came to US at 14 with his mother. Is there a path for him to get a legal status?
A: Your facts do not make it clear whether your partner entered legally or his age wwhen he entered and when he was convicted for the marijuana charge. This matters greatly. Second, dependoing on his age he may need one waiver or two. How or when they can be filed depends on whether he was legal when he entered the USA. You will need to be married to qualify for a waiver unless he has another immediate relative in the USA who is a USC or an LPR. Is his mother a USCI? If so, depending on his age when she became a USC he may be a USC.
Q. Would I be able to leave and enter the U.S. with just a green card? My passport expired two months ago
A: No. You need a passport of a travel document.
