Engaged in private civil law practice consisting of 80% - 90% general insurance defense (Unfair Trade Practices Act, guaranty insurance law, low impact auto cases, premises liability, insurance coverage opinions, bad faith) and 10% - 20% plaintiffs' cases (insurance coverage, ERISA, bad faith), from 1991 to 2005. Trial experience: Approximately 30 jury trials (and bench trials), circuit and federal courts throughout southern West Virginia.
