Matthew Scott Barney
Matt focuses his practice in the areas of Criminal Misdemeanor and Major Felony defense, including Juvenile Law. While pursuing his law degree at ASU, Matt served as a Student Ambassador for the Center for Law and Global Affairs, and participated in a humanitarian trip to Panama with the Law Society for Human Rights. During law school, he gained valuable experience in Washington, D.C. working as a legal intern for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, and as an intern at the Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs (WHA). He also worked as a legal research assistant at ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Outside the firm, he enjoys pickleball and basketball. Matt is also fluent in Spanish and earned a B.S. in Spanish Linguistics.
CIVIC/COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS
Committed to his giving back to his community, Matt volunteers regularly. He served a two-year mission for the LDS church in North Carolina, working primarily with the Spanish-speaking community. Matt is the founder and active participant of the Nog-a- thon Charity Run, which supports the Feed My Starving Children organization.
