Michael Rainwater
Born in Little Rock, Mike Rainwater’s family roots trace back to Crawford and White County. A graduate of North Little Rock High School, Mike attended Henderson State and Louisiana Tech. After college, he worked as a computer programmer in several states before deciding to pursue law. While working full-time at Texas Eastern Corporation, he attended South Texas College of Law at night and discovered a true passion for the legal field.
Mike returned to Arkansas to raise a family and began his legal career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Little Rock. He later entered private practice, gaining experience in commercial law and building strong ties across Central Arkansas. In the early 1980s, he joined attorney John Gill, representing Arkansas cities through the Municipal League Defense Fund. That experience deepened his love for constitutional law and public service.
In 1987, Mike helped launch a liability defense program for the Association of Arkansas Counties, serving as litigation counsel for 31 years and handling over 6,000 cases. He remains Outside General Counsel to the AAC Risk Management Fund.
In 1993, Mike transitioned to personal injury law. In 2006, he co-founded Rainwater, Holt & Sexton, a firm now with over 25 attorneys and 100 staff members. The firm’s growth, he says, comes from one principle: putting clients first.
Mike has represented over 30,000 Arkansans and takes pride in helping people through some of life’s most difficult moments. He and his wife enjoy time with their three sons and six grandchildren. In his free time, Mike can be found working on the family farm, fishing, or duck hunting across Arkansas.
