Brett Weiss, a senior partner at The Weiss Law Group, LLC, has been representing people and businesses in all phases of bankruptcy for over 40 years. He has experience in complex individual Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, and in Chapter 11 small business restructuring and reorganization.
Brett Weiss is the co-author of "Chapter 11 for Individual Debtors," and articles for the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, the Maryland Bar Journal, and the Bankruptcy Law Network. Mr. Weiss lectures nationally on bankruptcy issues. He has spoken before the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association and Maryland State Bar Association. He was selected as the consumer presenter for the prestigious American Bankruptcy Institute “Great Debates”, and served on the ABI Individual Chapter 11 Task Force.
He has testified before the Bankruptcy Rules Committee and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and has twice testified before Congress on bankruptcy and credit issues.
Mr. Weiss has received international media attention in connection with his work. He was interviewed by Barbara Walters on The View, has appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC News with Peter Jennings, the Montel Williams Show, National Public Radio, AARP-TV, the BBC World Service, and numerous local radio and television programs, and been quoted in Money magazine, The Washington Post and The Baltimore Sun, among others.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the Maryland State Bar Association Consumer Bankruptcy Council.
