Mr Michael D Gerstein
Mr. Gerstein concentrates his law practice in the areas of insurance law, workers' compensation, negligence, business disputes and criminal defense. He has over 40 years of trial experience in the above areas of law. He has represented people and companies involved in complex business disputes; people and companies whose insurance claims were denied; people injured on the job or otherwise; and people accused of crimes.
He has tried hundreds of cases to either juries, judges or arbitrators.
As a result of the complexity of the law today, Mr. Gerstein believes every client matter requires thorough thought, investigation, research and preparation.
Profession: Attorney in practice consisting of Negligence, Workers' Compensation, Business Disputes, Insurance Law, and Criminal Defense.
Experience: Primarily concentrated in the litigation of the above areas of law. The practice of injury work is 95% on behalf of plaintiffs and petitioners. Legal experience in automobile negligence, workers' compensation, insurance law, business disputes and criminal defense cases since 1973.
Alternative Dispute Resolution Experience: He is appointed to arbitrate negligence cases.
Professional Licenses: Admitted to the Bar in Illinois, (1973); U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, (1973); U.S. Court of Appeals: 7th Circuit (1975); District of Columbia (1980); and the U.S. Supreme Court (1991).
Professional Associations: Illinois State Bar Association; Northwest Suburban Bar Association; Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association; Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; District of Columbia Bar Association, and; 7th Circuit Bar Association.
Education. IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law (JD-1973 with distinction); at Chicago-Kent he was on the Law Review; Roosevelt University (BA-1969).
Teaching. Between 1996 and 2006 he was on the adjunct faculty at Northeastern Illinois University teaching business law. He has also published a number of articles on various legal topics.
