Mr. Michael John Gannon
Affolter GannonThe Affolter Gannon law firm is uniquely suited to fight for the rights of victims injured in accidents because Mike Gannon and Dick Affolter used to be among Vermont's premiere insurance defense lawyers. The AG team were the attorneys insurance companies called when claims were asserted against them. In fact, Mike and Dick received awards from insurance companies and were asked to instruct their adjusters how to handle legal issues. A little more than ten years ago, AG made the decision to "switch teams" and to represent injured claimants who are being treated unfairly by insurance companies. We know these companies thoroughly, inside and out. And they know us. Our close knowledge of the insurance companies allows us to better help our clients get them the money they deserve. Housed in the historic Kiln building in Essex Junction, Affolter Gannon's lawyers have combined over 100 years of practice and professional achievement coupled with accessibility and compassion - a combination that is next to impossible to find at most law firms. Mike holds Martindale Hubbell's highest rating, AV, and is listed as a Super Lawyer in New England for both personal injury on behalf of plaintiffs and for insurance law. He also holds the highest possible rating on AVVO, 10, based upon reviews of both colleagues and former clients. Mike Gannon and Dick Affolter are two of a small number of attorneys listed as Vermont Top Lawyers (in civil litigation) by Vermont Business Magazine.

- Q. I was walking my dog and and we both got knocked down by a cyclist -- will the insurer pay for my pet's vet bills?
- A: Initially, your question doesn't mention which insurance company. If the cyclist has insurance, that company may elect to pay veterinary bills but it's far from certain it will agree to do so. The company may take the position that you were wholly or partially to blame for the accident. It's impossible to predict whether it would do so because there isn't any information provided about the accident. Even if the accident was entirely the cyclist's fault, you may find that the insurance company only wants to enter into a final settlement. In other words, the company likely won't want to pay for vet bills unless it is able to resolve all potential claims.
- Q. Is my neighbor liable for injuries resulting from their tree falling on our house?
- A: Possibly. It depends on whether your neighbors were on notice of the risk presented by the tree and failed to act. If that's the case then they are potentially liable.
- Q. Is there any lawyer in Waterbury that do not ask for upfront fee, and get paid once case is settled?
- A: I'm not aware of any lawyer in the Waterbury Vermont area who will agree to defer payment in a family law matter. There may some but I don't know of them.
