Nicholas R. Battey
I represent clients in criminal defense appeals and criminal postconviction proceedings, including appeals from postconviction litigation at the Noble Law Firm, where I have been since February 2020.
Prior to that, I clerked at the Colorado Court of Appeals for the Honorable Judge Hawthorne for over two years. I worked on 60+ appeals during my time there, assisting the Judge with research, briefing, and drafting appellate opinions. It taught me how to structure arguments to effectively present the issues and give clients the best opportunity for success.
Before clerking, I worked for a trial criminal defense firm, the Eichner Law Firm, while my license was transferring to Colorado. I assisted the firm with motions and briefs, research, and trial preparation.
Before moving to Colorado, I practiced complex civil litigation and patent prosecution at an intellectual property firm in Chicago representing Fortune 500 companies and small businesses.
I graduated from the University of Illinois Law School, magna cum laude, and was a published member of the Illinois Law Review. I also was the president of the American Civil Liberties Union’s law school chapter.
I am admitted to practice law in Colorado, Illinois, and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
I am a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.
