Richard Hartsock
We help injured victims and their families.
Richard is a hometown lawyer, born and raised in Bowling Green. He attended Warren Central High School and continued his education at Western Kentucky University, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He then attended Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2010. At NKU, Richard was an Associate Editor for the Northern Kentucky Law Review and had his law review article chosen for publication in 2010.
After law school, Richard returned home again to begin his career with a defense firm focusing primarily on civil litigation, including insurance defense, personal injury defense and civil rights claims. He is also an AOC trained Guardian Ad Litem and has handled many juvenile cases in family courts across southern Kentucky. Eventually, Richard moved to another defense firm where he primarily focused on workers’ compensation defense. It was here that Richard won several highly contested claims, the results of which were affirmed on various appeals to all levels of Kentucky’s appellate court system.
Richard brings a unique perspective to Hughes & Coleman. Having practiced solely as a defense lawyer before joining the firm, Richard’s experience enables him to analyze cases thoroughly from both sides and to anticipate the defense’s case strategy. Having seen the devastating impact wrongly denied claims can have on the injured parties, Richard is sympathetic to “the little guys” and fights to protect their rights. He is proud to be part of a firm that fights relentlessly to protect clients’ rights and makes clients’ needs their top priority.
Richard lives in Bowling Green with his wife, Kelly, and their two beautiful daughters. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Bowling Green/Warren County Bar Association and HOTEL INC, serving as Board President in 2016. Richard and his family are also active members of Woodburn Baptist Church.
