Richard J Gregson
I have a background in the computer and electronics industry, and for the past 25 years, I have also supported clients in diverse industries including aerospace, medical device, and telecommunications. Additionally, I have protected a wide range of products and inventions for various individuals. My work primarily involves client counseling and the development of patent portfolios.
Previously, I worked as a computer engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory within an embedded computer systems group. There, I developed solutions that integrated hardware and software components, focusing on image processing, network communications, and circuit design technologies. I have also authored technical papers presented at conferences organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
My career began as a general practice attorney in smaller trial practices where I gained experience in both bench and jury trials, as well as in drafting appeal briefs for the Maryland state courts.
The majority of my career has been spent as a practicing U.S. Registered Patent Attorney. I have worked in private practice at both large and small law firms, served as a senior patent counsel at a multinational computer systems and software corporation, worked as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and taught as an adjunct professor of intellectual property law for paralegals at Villanova University.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Boston University, I received my Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law. I am admitted to the Maryland Bar and the USPTO.
