I help employees with important career choices. I guide them through employment offers as well as separation agreements and releases, non-competes, non-solicitations, and other restrictive covenants. If you are transitioning employment, I work with you to protect your rights and your future.
I also help entrepreneurs start, grow, and protect their businesses. Forming a company begins long before filing paperwork with a state agency. Owners need to understand their initial operations, and have a plan for growth. I guide business clients through that critical process.
I advise on entity type and draft organic documents, such as operating agreements, shareholder agreements, and bylaws. I also build strong contracts between companies and their employees, independent contracts, customers, and vendors. As outside general counsel, I work with business clients on a host of issues that they will face during their journey.
I have 20+ years of litigation experience. I know how critical it is to prepare for the possibility of disputes, but also how disruptive litigation can be to someone's personal and professional life. I make every effort to avoid formal proceedings if there is a better avenue to resolution.
When formal proceedings become necessary, I represent my clients with commitment and passion. I have prosecuted claims for individuals and businesses in state and federal courts, and in arbitration and mediation. I have also defended challenges to corporate and individual conduct.

- Q. When an attorney takes a case on contingency, do they usually get paid more than if they do it on an hourly rate?
- A: If you are asking whether an attorney that WINS a contingency case gets paid more than if the attorney had simply taken the case on an hourly basis, then the answer is: It depends on the math. A quick win requiring very few hours would probably result in a contingency fee higher than the hourly rate the attorney could have collected. On the other hand, if the case takes a long time to litigate and win, then the attorney may have been better off charging his/her hourly rate.
- Q. An attorney that does neighbor/ tree dispute. Is what type/ practices what? Have a tree dispute and need an attorney
- A: Issues regarding trees and neighbors may fall under "Real Estate Law," "Real Estate Litigation," "Property Line Disputes," or even generally "Civil Litigation," depending on how a particular law firm may categorize or organize their practice areas. You may want to run a few searches for "tree disputes" or "neighbor/tree disputes" and see where that takes you.
