Q. In Colorado what is 18cr2885 or how do I find this charge
A: Greetings:

18CR2885 is a case number. The 18 reflects the year filed (2018), the CR refers to a felony "criminal case" (misdemeanor cases use an "M"), and the 2885 reflects the actual case number (it actually means it would have been the 2885 felony filed in that jurisdiction).

Title 18 of the Colorado Revised Statutes is the criminal code. Individual sections then correspond with a criminal charge. The citation generally follows this example: C.R.S. Section 18-3-101.

If you can provide the actual statutory citation, then it would be easy to tell you what has been charged.

I wish you the best.

Q. If I am convicted of a DUI, is there any way I can still keep my license?
A: Greetings:

When facing a DUI, your license may be revoked based on either (1) the Express Consent Hearing or (2) Conviction of DUI. The express consent hearing is separately conducted through the DMV. The issue is whether there was probable cause to request a chemical test and whether that test was administered within 2 hours of the last known time of driving. Often times a person will win the Express Consent hearing only to then be convicted of DUI in the criminal case. If convicted of DUI and the license was not revoked at the Express Consent hearing then the person's license will still be suspended based on the conviction of a DUI. This is the reason that your attorney will fight like heck to get a DWAI plea if you have already won at the Express Consent hearing.

Therefore, the bad news is that you will most likely have your license revoked. Fortunately, the revocation period may be as short as 30 days followed by early reinstatement. I wish you the best of luck.

Q. CO (now in WI) for not reporting to jail to start my 4 month work release sentence? (Say after a random traffic stop)?
A: Greetings:

As noted by Mr. McHugh, extradition for a misdemeanor warrant is not common. However, in your particular case, the warrant was for failure to appear for a jail sentence. Based on experience, I would imagine the bond amount is very high and makes it much more likely a prosecutor would elect to extradite if you are picked up in WI.

Having something like this hanging over your shoulders is no way to live. Perhaps rather than waiting to see if something happens, you should be proactive and either return to Colorado to try and resolve the issue or simply return to Colorado and remand yourself to serve the sentence.

I wish you the best of luck.
